Powerlifting is a strength sport that focuses on three main lifts: the Squat, Bench press, and Deadlift. The goal is to lift as much weight as possible in these three lifts, each performed once in a competition setting. The total of the heaviest successful lifts from each of the three movements is your Total score. Powerlifting emphasizes maximal strength, technique, and control over the body.
Derrington Wright. Strength coach for 11 years now and a strongman & powerlifting competitor for the last 15 years. Derrington has competed in 5 different federations in that time, and has held multiple Jr. and open American records. As a coach, Derrington has trained everyone from beginners to national and world-level powerlifting and strongman competitors/champions.
